Atlanta corrupt

Former Atlanta CFO about to get sentenced for stealing as much as he could during his seven year tenure. Trips, hotels, and the obligatory two machine guns were just a few of the prizes he accumulated all while pulling in a measly $260K/year.
All the while our outstanding mass transit organization (MARTA) copped to overcharging the city $70M last year.

It's ok- my property taxes only went up $3,600 from 2023 to 2024 so at least I pitched in my fair share.

I think most people are inherently corrupt. It takes a rare culture to be able to overcome the desire to get free sh*t and power. That culture would include a moral structure, usually religious, and a family structure with two parents which encourage hard work and honesty. On the planet, the English model has the best track record of promoting a largely honest culture. White run LA in the 1950s was corrupt. White run Chicago from the depression on through Mayor Daley was corrupt. White run NYC for decades was legendarily corrupt. The dem party has no interest in dealing with corruption. Look at DC and Mayor Marion Barry. Look at the last two democratic presidents and the current candidate.

There’s no such thing as ideal, but there are plenty of mid size US Cities that have managed to avoid the homelessness/crime/drug/corruption death spiral for the most part. If you look at crime rate and then electoral makeup of the city itself, there is a direct correlation.

If you don't recognize, assess, and make necessary changes to cities like Atlanta, you get 3, 4, or 5 mayors doing time. If you are white, you will have a very difficult time getting to a leadership position in Atlanta, forget about being Mayor.
