Why are we every calling it "college" athletics anymore, when pay for play is the #1 factor as opposed the all the "college" stuff.

Bruh, I've had my first year of psycho sports ball parents with 4th grade "travel" hoops. What the fuck is wrong with this country?
Travel sports should be banned before 9th grade and then only allowed if you are a legit D1 college prospect. You hear me @creepycoug ? This is trash as fuck.

I am 99% in agreement with you. Not to be that guy, but there are the 1% stars who were getting massively raw deals versus the money they generated for the universities.
Either way, fuck the kids.
Even think about the pro leagues. There's not many bankable stars and even like small local stuff is only worth it to the biggest stars. How many players on the Seahawks can the average casual fan even recognize with their helmet off?

When it costs 100K to get a run of the mill top 25 woman's hoops starter, you know this shit has jumped the shark.
A solid majority of these psycho parents never achieved shit athletically in their miserable lives.
There's money to be made selling psycho parents on corching on kids who have zero rare human talent that D1 sports require.

Be smart and teach your kids to golf. If they get pro at that they’ll make bank and get significant pussy. If they don’t, they’ll have a life skill that will serve them professionally and socially.

This is a good way of putting it. To me for a long time I've always supported and though it would be easy to create a paid model for college athletes similar to pros where there's a salary cap and teams have budgets based on TV contracts, conference money, etc and I think a percentage of coach pay. Then players are allowed to do legitimate NIL opportunities. Pretty much everyone wins in that situation other than some predatory people and it doesn't seem hard.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for them getting something if they are making the profit. My complaint is the “advocates” of the athlete that at a certain point will turn against them once it starts to affect their own bottom line
