Are We Recruiting Again? Transfer Portal

Stanford has some decent players hitting the portal and I would expect more. Assume these guys are academically prowesed so they might be interested in UW.

DE Stephon Herron - Had an all-conference level season on a shit team.
LB Levani Damuni - Has had a decent career, but also could just be another Cam Bright.
S Jonathan MCGill - Similar to Damuni.

I’m hoping Eddy fully comes back to form next year, Bruener takes another step as a junior and that AT, now over a year removed from the Achilles tear, takes another leap forward. If UW can bring in a legit P5 starter to play along EO, have Bruener and AT as quality depth would be a pretty great group. Maybe Demario King will flash. Not sure what his injury was this year. Five LBs should be enough to let the new recruits redshirt and gain some weight.
 
Next season is setup nicely for ZTF to be "the" guy again. A year and a half removed from Achilles injury should get him back to his former glory. I have a sneaking suspicion that Trice might declare. I was confident our guys would get after it this year. I haven't seen enough flash from younger players to let me know they'll pick up the slack. I think our secondary will be vastly improved next season along with Linebackers, they'll have to be because expecting 35 sacks is going to be a bit too much.
 
Brennan Armstrong from UVA is in the portal. All time passing leader at Virginia. Had similar numbers to Penix in 2021. His stats took a shit under his new coach. Great arm, great runner. If Penix departs, Armstrong would be a great replacement. With Big Papa (TWILTCH) maybe UW has an in with him.

Jesus ...WTF did the new coach do? No wonder Big Papa got the F out of there. Dontayvion Wicks had 1203 yards in 2021 and then drops to 480 this year. I expect there will be a lot of players portaling out of that mess.

I would assume they are good enough. He’s around 265-270 and doesn’t seem slow. I really hope he returns because he will likely be dominant. He’s gotten a lot better every year.

Hate to admit it but you're right. NFL is looking for twitchy guys at End. They couldn't pass on Tryon because he just looks like a football player should.

Trice is the guy that goes in the 3rd rd to Baltimore and they turn him into Za'Darius Smith. He just looks like the part.

Definitely worried Trice is gone. Didn't he have the most pressures of any player in the entire country?

It's tough but I'm generally in the mindset of wanting UW guys to just go to the league once it's the best choice for them. Hard part though is unless you're one of the four schools that have all the talent you kind of need guys who don't need to come back return for another year. Even with Gaskin in 2018 I felt a little guilty about it.
 
I know I'm a broken record with Stanford academis players but Stanford's pretty good center is in the portal now - Drake Nugent. Could be a nice take with Luciano gone.

you are right. I never watch cal but I guess I have seen him make the only plays in his career and assumed he was making plays outside of those times.
