You don't understand. Partnering with an established media company and reducing costs in order to rely on their expertise is an old dog move.

When you're the conference of champions and you're located in the heartland of INNOVATION and DISRUPTION, you go big or go home. Starting your own media enterprise with unlimited upside and cascading profits for member schools is just too good of a proposition to pass up.
