I know we're piling on the shitty recruiting right now, but this grad transfer from UAB was actually fucking good in 2019 and 2020. Was all conference both those years and had some pretty decent numbers. Was apparently hurt for most of last year.

I'm not opposed to bringing him in for 1 year as a grad transfer.

Edit: 103 tackles, 16 tfl, 9 sacks in 2019, which is the last time he played a full season. Was on at least one pre season AA list going into 2020.

The bitching about recruiting is warranted, but a bit of a stretch for this kid.

My question is why did no one want him with those stats? All I have seen this coaching staff do is bring in G5 talent that no P5 schools were after

Yeah, there is literally no downside to taking this kid. He'll either be a solid contributer or a backup for one year. Of the transfers we've taken, this is one of the better ones (on paper).

Moll developed into one of the best defensive players in C-USA while helping the Blazers secure two conference championships (2018, 2020) and another division title (2019). He was UAB's leading tackler in 2019 (104 tackles) and 2020 (59 tackles), earning spots on the Conference USA First Team both seasons. After the 2020 season, Phil Steele named him as an All-America Honorable Mention.

It’s at UAB, but they won, their defense was statistically top 25ish, he made a big impact when healthy. I’m with you Bananas, there is nothing to criticize. At minimum, he’s great depth as long as he’s healthy. I watched his YouTube highlights and he looked quick and he was physical. Hopefully his ankle isn’t too fucked up and he can get back to pre injury form.

Yes because we are counting on this guy to be the savior. There is no way that an All Conference player from the fun belt that has started since his freshman year can be a worthy contributor in the mighty PAC 12.

We should just gift Bruener and Tuputala the starting roles and not make them compete against guys that have played a lot of football and had success. Bright was a solid pick up.

Danny Heimuli is looking like a probable bust. Still early, but other guys the same age and/or younger are ahead of him.

Tuputala has good size, can run, and is physical, but he has never seemed very instinctual when I’ve watched him, albeit in limited time. Eddy is going to be out for awhile and it will probably be a lost year for him when he returns. Competition and depth matters. Special teams matter. Experience matters.

You are trying way too hard. You went from being one of the doogiest posters on this board (Emmert, lukewarm support of Sark even in year 5) to whatever the fuck you do now. Any complaint about this guy is simply complaining to complain. Sure, I would rather have an All SEC LB, but that guy isn’t available. I think a reason this guy didn’t get a ton of attention is that he still isn’t healthy.

The program has some issues, but we got rid of a shitty coach and hired a guy that has improved every program he’s been a part of and has won. Pete won with Cohen’s worthless ass around and DeBoer should too. He will figure it out and doesn’t seem like the type to sit back and hope for results.

He hasn’t won at the highest level and there is risk to the hire (same for 90% of new coaching hires), but give the guy a chance. The players and recruits seem to like him so with winning, recruiting will improve.
