People who make what my wife and I do aren't struggling financially in any meaningful sense. I'm not willing to subsidize other similarly non-struggling households though. Nor would my voluntarily paying more than I already do contribute meaningfully, as you undoubtedly know. The stupid "you could pay more if you want to" response remains stupid.

Spending will continue to increase due to entitlements you and I receive, even without new spending. Taxes on the most well-off Americans, meanwhile, are very low.
Half the TugCons won't even admit that their entitlements are entitlements. We're not going to address debt through meaningful spending cuts.

I don't really think a wealth tax is needed and I don't like anything that's been proposed. It seems to me that we could accomplish more and do it more easily by making some changes to the existing tax system.
