Any positive surprises from Saturday's scrimmage?

We knew Peters was a beast. I can't think of one aspect of the game that left me pleasantly surprised. Our FG kicking wasn't a complete clusterfuck, I guess?

A small positive was Qualls making a couple of nice plays.
Qualls looks pretty good out there. He's going to be a huge help this year as a legit sub for Shelton.

I don't think the DL played that bad at all, and I don't think I saw them tired in spite of what the TV guy (and some posters) thought. If that was the case then Hawaii's run game would have gotten better late in the game. There are bound to be gaps sometimes, but I'm pretty sure someone behind the line is supposed to fill them. The other surprise was that the LBs other than Timu (and I guess Kikaha if he counts) were invisible.

I thought Qualls was a pretty major positive, based on the reports that he was invisible at practice and presumably on his way to door. ass. out. He looked like a contributor for sure.

Just watched game again. This one isn't much a surprise, but the offense seemed much more organized. No delay penalties, no frantic flapping at the sidelines.

Andrew Hudson showed up. After the first 2 series, the d-line seemed ok mostly. Linebackers look like a bigger problem.

Lindy still sucks.

Our freshmen dbs. Gave up some yards, but no huge plays and they eventually settled down and played well. Going to be a special group.

I think we have talent there, but it will be up and down all season. The soft coverage was by design so you can't fault them too much. Hopefully we mix up the coverage as the young guys get some experience and confidence.
