Where are all the portal entries from ole blue? I would think there would be some kids sniffing around for a different environment with some cash enticing them. Seems really quiet on that front
Keeping all 3 with Huff or Shephard as OC? I think everyone but Mack. But I still wouldn't have wanted to roll the dice on that.I assume promoting Moore will help keep some. Wonder how many keeping Grubb, Huff, and Shepherd would have kept?
Also wonder if their roster doesn't have a lot of weird discontent for winning a bunch of games and getting supported by a fanbase?
Firm on that. I might feel better straight up failing with Fisch than being Sark like average with Grubb, which I feel like was the most likely possibility. Had Grubb had a reputation as a good recruiter I may have felt slightly different.Keeping all 3 with Huff or Shephard as OC? I think everyone but Mack. I’m thinking UW loses a couple more in Spring as well as Arizona. If this staff brings in Loadsock and Taco D. I could see EJ and possibly more DBs bailing because they’d know less about and have less of a relationship with the new staff than the transfers. I feel good about the kids that publicly said they were in but many more did not. Those are the ones to watch. Having 85 viable D1 scholarship players going into the fall is going to be difficult. I’d rather go in with 70, take your chances and recruit your ass off going into 2025.I think there are significant difference between UW, Arizona and Michigan regarding the late portal.
Prior to Fats gut wrenching departure, UW was losing a ton of talent but with Fats at the helm, there’s reason to believe an 8-9 win season is likely.
Fats departure creates a scenario where the returning players say oh fuck, we’re going back to Jimmy Lake days, I’m bailing. You get Brailsford & GermBern following their position coaches and Mack following because he wants to remain in that offense. Buelow & Kalepo want bags and so on.
A lot of short-sightedness IMO.
Arizona on the other hand is in a situation similar to UW at the end of the 22 season and a lot of guys want to stay to see what they can do in 24. I remain optimistic that some of their guys will portal in the spring if they don’t like what they see in their new coach.
As for Michigan, they’re keeping part of their staff and Harbaugh’s been flirting with NFL offers for a couple years. They knew this was likely gonna happen if they won the natty so they’re not shell shocked like the UW roster.
I assume the TE from Bellevue already signed with Michigan and he’s the only guy I’d really see looking at UW if he wavers in his commitment.
The thing with Arizona is I don't think they could afford to lose guys like Coleman, Prysock, Ward, the other CB and have the season they're hoping for. They were set up well for 2024 but they're a lower-tier Pac-12 program that has no depth.I’m thinking UW loses a couple more in Spring as well as Arizona. If this staff brings in Loadsock and Taco D.
