So much awesomeness in that video - the Gibson lineup - legendary SG and Les Paul, and the underrated Explorer. Billy with the old school Bud on his piano, Ronnie's voice, Gary's slide work, Steve and Allen's harmonizing solo, and the crowd energy as the song transitioned to faster tempo.
Things you'll never see again from that clip - Stars and Bars as the stage backdrop, Zero fat people, and that many white folks congregating in one place in Oaktown.
And Rolling Stone can get fucked ranking Free Bird 407th on their top 500. Easily top 20 all timer

Agree. Guaranteed without even looking RS has some Bob Dylan shit listed that isn’t even a rock and roll song (folk music ain’t rock and roll. Sorry, it’s just not).

They’ll also be some Joan Baez or Joni Mitchell crap (see above folk music). Nobody is screaming “Both Sides Now” at the bar band during a drunken weekend in bumfuck middle of nowhere.

Free Bird is definitely top 50 if not higher.

JFC. I like skinny Kelly Clarkson as much as the next degenerate. Hell, wood chunky Kelly Clarkson. But no way in fucking hell is any Kelly Clarkson song rated higher than Free Bird.
