Novak won. Water is wet. He's the greatest and 24 is just a level beyond everyone who's ever come before.

Gauff had a great comeback to win and just killed Sabalenka in the 3rd set. She is actually realizing her potential. She took leaps forward this summer.

I let this thread die but since it started with this match-up 3 years ago I wanted to note that we had a repeat match-up this year in the Australian Open final. In 2023 Aryna won but in 2026 Elena triumphed. Still Wood.
 
Started watching a documentary on Netflix about Guillermo Vilas. Golden age of tennis. Borg, Connors, McEnroe, et al. Up through Sampras and Chang, tennis was everywhere and the top players were celebrities.

Don’t have a fucking clue who is on top now.
