Barton Simmons reporting that Ty Jones has been the biggest matchup nightmare for the DBs out there, a true deep threat, and probably the biggest surprise so far.

But how wasn't this blatantly obvious when watching his Hudl?

So, he's blowing up at the Army All American practices when the best of the best is around. Top 3 receiver according to some people. Playing and beating 5 star recruits going to the best football schools.

But.

During the regular season in Utah he "disappears against top competition"?

Hmmmm. Something doesn't add up here and it ain't Ty Jones.

I guess all he needed was a decent QB. He is enrolling early, I hope he gains another 10-15 pounds over camp/summer and plays around 205-215

Marlon Tuipulotu, DT, Oregon

He diced up the East offensive line for much of the afternoon because of his strength, hands and balance. He's a Washington commit though schools have continued to press for him. Tuipulotu is the No. 97 player per the 247Sports Composite.

Ty Jones, WR, Utah

One of the continued revelations of the event, Ty Jones continues to be one of the biggest matchup problems and deep threats regardless of who you put in front of him. The Utah native is committed to Washington. Jones is the No. 414 player per the 247Sports Composite.

They're also trying with Husky target Foster Sarell.

"Man, we're trying," said Ahmed. "We're trying hard but you can't really get a read on him. Hopefully he goes to UW, it would be great to have him. He's a special player."

He's also recruiting a couple other offensive linemen.

"Our class is almost done, but the coaches wanted me to recruit Wyatt Davis and Austin Jackson, so we'll see with them," said Ahmed.

I'm happy that unearthing Ty Jones is gonna pay huge dividends in the near future.

A senior Jake Browning throwing to a Ty Jones with 2.5 years under his belt mentally and physically developing. That's gonna be awesome. 2019 version of Reggie Williams?

It's not that often in this day and age of Internet and the pre-college football recruiting circuit that you see a "3" star player come into a bigtime situation and force internet evaluators to eat crow.

If he keeps this up they will be forced to go high 4 star for Jones.

Camilo Eifler was all up in the ears of Mique Juarez, David Long, and Byron Murphy at the AA game last year... and we actually landed one of those guys.

If we can repeat and land just 1 or those 3 (Sarell/Jackson/Davis) then doogitup.gif.

There was not a more violent defensive lineman on Tuesday than Marlon Tuipulotu. Even though the future Husky was wearing a different jersey number than the one listed on the roster, he was easy to pick out because he dominated the one-on-one session against the East squad. Tuipulotu may not be the tallest defensive tackle prospect around, but he brings versatility because of his athleticism and his motor is always running.

Ty Jones had a strong first day of practice showing off his length and catch radius and continued that into the morning of Day 2. He wasn’t as strong in one-on-ones, but finished the day making several catches in 7-on-7. Over the first two days, Jones has had the most consistent pair hands on the West squad.

Salvon Ahmed stepped up as a defensive back playing closer to the line of scrimmage in 7-on-7 work highlighted by making a nice deflection that was nearly picked off in the end zone behind him. He’s been a good worker throughout the first two days and has been very instinctual in pass coverage. Ariel Ngata also continued a solid start to the week in this morning’s session, and several times flashed his speed to keep runs from escaping to the edge in team run-drills.
