I believe UW could have offered 10.5 or 11 back in October and it wouldn't have mattered.

Orangutan went 14-0 and won a National Championship with an elite QB, two first-team All-Pro caliber wideouts, a decent OL and and a decent defense.

If/when Bama's recruiting falls off, DeBoer won't be able to scheme his way to anything better than 10-2

I still think he’s a great coach, he just has shitty roster management. He will win at Alabama for as long as they have a roster advantage, probably another season or two.

He’s excelled at using other coach’s players, sans his SFalls time, but that was pre/start of portal, so now things are going to get interesting. He has Milroe and likely will do fine, but whew, it’s going to be interesting with that defense in the SEC

That would be an insane number to have offered him at that point. Why don't we just give Fisch $30M/year and lock him up right now? I bet he'd take it!

The fact that he didn't even counter the 8.7 offer after the apple cup...

What weird is the buyout of both (new) contracts remained exactly the same as the original, 12 million, the contract offer was literally only ~2X salary upside offered to DeBoer... It was an initial offer to more than double his salary with absolutely zero downside, after barely beating OSU by 2 and WSU by 3, recruiting like shit, and this fucking guy ghosted the AD...

There is just no way that a coach or agent would not only turn down but just not respond to a free offer to double your salary with zero possible downside/penalty, unless he already knew he was leaving.
