Alabama; In or Out?

1 loss team should trump a 2 loss conference champion, all other things being equal (strength of schedule, etc.).

Nope. Until they expand to eight teams the committee
will value conference champs. Otherwise they delegitimize
the whole process.

tOSU says hi.

It is actually quite simple, if it wasn't for ratings and money.

4 super conferences with 2 divisions.
4 mid-major conferences with 2 divisions.

Conference champions is first round ...

Notre Dame would never go for it.

Way too simple.

If Ohio State wins, Alabama is in. Ohio State's losses to Iowa by 31 and home against OU by 15 are much worse than Alabama's loss to Auburn. Both have equal quality wins.

If you're going to expand to 8 teams, reserve spots for all undefeated conference champions regardless of conference.

Except most years there are none and I don't think there will be any this year either, but sure.gif

Ohio State is out

If Ohio State wins, they aren't hopping Alabama (Alabama has one competitive loss vs 2 blow out defeats one being at home), and if Oklahoma loses, Oklahoma isn't falling behind Ohio State after they curb stomped them at the Big House.

That's the poont. One spot for each power 5 league, spots for any other undefeated teams, then fill with at larges.

They not only didn't win their conference, they didn't even
win their DIVISION of the conference. LOL if they get in.

Teams that didn't win their conference played in the title game back when there were only two teams. The chances of it happening in a four team playoffs is extremely likely.

2001 Nebraska says hi (and they also lost their division)

Or OSU just last year.

That is not the point. The Pac 12 doesn't have a top 8 team in the league this year, so your THEORY is blown to shit. Also if a lesser conference goes undefeated in the MAC or Sun Belt, do you really think they deserve a spot in a 8 team playoff??? Those are Bad Conferences.

How about win your conference ... you're in.

Make it a 5 team playoff with 4 and 5 playing an extra game.

Teams 1-3 get a bi.

Or ...

6 team play off with one mid-major

1-2 get a bi.

Jesus, the shit is so simple it blows my mind how it could be made so hard.

To Leach's point ... no committee ... settle it on the field.

Win you are in.
