No statue of Brooks at Autzen. But there is of this one for this guy outside Husky Stadium. What was his record his last 10 years Bill? What was his record the year he was burning crosses out in the parking lot trying to let the coloreds know their place? I thought you told be that big time programs don't put up with losing for over 3 years?

Rich Brooks’ trajectory looked pretty good once Knight got involved, but the NFL came calling and he took his shot. Had he stayed I’m pretty confident another rose bowl appearance or 2 was on the table. His best quality later in his career once he had a budget was the ability to assemble great staffs.
Bellotti knew he had it made at Oregon and didn’t make the jump in 01-02 when he could have. Stayed on another 6 mostly mediocre years until Chip retired him.
Chip was the hired gun that always wanted to coach in the NFL and always wanted to be on the east coast so I wasn’t mad when he left to coach the Eagles.
then it was Helfrich-Taggart-Meathead purgatory which I think averaged out to 8 wins a year or whatever. Felt like Bellotti tbh as it was 1-2 great seasons, 1-2 mediocre seasons and 1-2 disasters.
Oregon has had 3 decent coaches, 2 fraud coaches and two really good coaches going back to the 80s

Ty was a program killer. So was Helf. The thing is Helf won with good players. Ty couldn’t even do that. You look at Ty’s worst team and Helf’s worst team, and on paper Ty should win that game but he managed to go 0-12.

That's not what the internet is telling me. You also had a worse record than Ole Miss that year. Maybe the bread company awarded you the NC because they knew Owens was even more of a bigot than Johnny Vaught.

Agree, but after Ty's stint at Our Lady, it was obvious he sucked. They still hired him. Ty getting another job after Notre Dame at any place other than FCS or struggling Group of Five school was ridiculous. If you think Ty was a program killer, what was a Gilby/Ty bang bang?
