I don't mind the black uni's for a one game of year theme. I have always hated the white pants though dating back to when Lambo had them vs Oregon State in 1998.
Use alternate unis once a year. Stop with the white unis, black unis, white helmets with an American flag W. It looks stupid and it's gimmicky. Does it really make a difference with recruits? I doubt it.

I might be in the minority here, but I like the black jersey's and the gold chrome helmets. Sure, there are traditional teams like Alabama, USC, etc. At the same time, prestigious programs such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Florida have the new style of jersey's.
I agree it's not going to do shit when it comes to recruiting. It's always about winning, and even if it were about jersey's, recruits like Oregon's better than ours, and that is not going to change.
