I'm sure a Andy Yamashita story has already been posted but here's to me how the two deeps look now after the transfer portal.

Offense

This is an awfully young group for a coach's third year and it's led by a QB who has been uninspiring and now his loyalty is questioned. One of the hardest to gauge offensive units I can ever remember going into a season. A ton of question marks. The two baselines I have are Demond should be at least a little better this year and he was decent as a first-year starter in 2025. The offensive line should have improvement and it will be interesting to see how LT plays out.

QB - Demond Williams Jr. (Jr.), Elijah Brown (So.)
RB - Brian Bonner Jr. (Fr.) OR Jordan Washington (So.) OR Jayden Limar (Sr.)
WR - Dezmen Roebuck (So.), Chris Lawson (So.)
WR - Rashid Williams (Jr.), Justice Williams (So.)
WR - Christian Moss (Sr.) OR Jordan Clay (Fr.)
TE - Decker DeGraaf (Jr.), Kade Eldridge (Jr.)
LT - Kolt Diederich (Jr.) OR Kodi Greene (Fr.)
LG - John Mills (So.), Jack Shaffer (So.)
C - Landen Hatchett (Sr.), Lowen Colman-Brusa (rFr.)
RG - Geirean Hatchett (Sr.) OR Champ Taulealea (rFr.)
RT - Drew Azzopardi (Sr.), Soane Faasolo (Jr.)

Defense

I feel better about this group despite a ton of turnover on the DL and at CB. I would love to see a more proven dynamic player on DL. I still think it should be comparable to 2025 as a group that can stop the run. This is one of the best LB units I can ever remember at UW. CB and S could be even better than 2025 if Robinson and RDA progress.

EDGE - Jacob Lane (Sr.)
DT - Elinneus Davis (Jr.)
DT - Darin Conley (Jr.) OR DeSean Watts (Jr.) OR Kai McClendon (So.)
EDGE - Isaiah Ward (Sr.) OR Russell Davis II (Sr.) OR Logan George (Jr.)
LB - Jacob Manu (Sr.) OR Taariq Al-Uqdah (Sr.)
LB - Xe'ree Alexander (Sr.) OR Zaydrius Rainey-Sale (So.)
CB - Dylan Robinson (So.), D'Aryhian Clemons (rFr.)
CB - Emmanuel Karnley (Jr.), Rahsjon Duncan (Fr.)
S - Alex McLaughlin (Sr.), CJ Christian (Sr.)
S - Rylon Dillard-Allen (So.), Gavin Day (Fr.)
S - Rahshawn Clark (So.), Paul Mencke Jr. (So.)

Seems like the WRs and the CBs will see a lot of actual competition and could look very different over the offseason

WR is really hard to slot out besides Roebuck will will be in the first group. Rashid Williams probably there too depending on health. I think the starters at CB are set. I think the three best true freshmen will challenge for the second team and reps.

Williams feels like the guy that gets talked up for years to just never pan out fully although I could see him being just ok this year and reaching his full potential next year considering he's hardly played yet

Putting much into Williams is dooging. Come to think of it, I probably could have put him OR with Lawson. They have similar body types and have had similar amounts of targets and Lawson has looked flashier.

That's interesting I thought ZRS might have been the guy for that. Micah Parsons style
Feel like I've seen this stuff from the Doogman/LockedOn crowd. Sounds like Fisch and co cope to me. We couldn't bring in any dynamic edges, but don't worry our LBs will do it. Husky LBs not being able to penetrate the LOS on blitzes for decades now is one of my least favorite complaints I have.

There's no reason to think the the defense will take a step back and not really a great reason to think that the offense takes a step forward.
Not ready to go there yet. We played a bunch of offenses that couldn’t pass and had two NFL corners, at least part of the time. Pass defense is gonna be worse.

The entire middle of the field is in a great place though. Elenius Davis, Manu, ZRS, Alexander, McLaughlin and RDA are all beasts

Thoughts on TE? DeGraaf capable of blocking? What about their backup?

Underwhelmed. DeGraaf had a bad 2025. He seems more like a long development guy who got pushed into playing really early because they had no one else. I still like his potential as a pass catcher though his blocking seems limited. Eldridge looked like a good TE3 last year before he got knocked out for the season so not sure if he'll be 100% at the start of next year. They have a bunch of young guys after that and Naone is a wild card to be a big contributor.
