Oregon Congressional District 5 will be a big election between first term soft Republican Hispanic Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Democrat Janelle Bynum, standard dem plus a black woman. The district carves OUT most of Portland and Salem and all of Eugene. Should be a solid Republican hold but as I said she is soft and tons of national dem PAC dollars are going into this race. Chavez-DeRemer ad so far talks about inflation and that she has unknown "bipartisan" plans to cut it and she supports a "Cut Red Tape" legislation. Very soft. Nothing about the other two big national issues, crime and the border. She is going to get a raft of attacks on abortion, which is embedded in Oregon. She needs to get out front and say she won't vote for a national abortion policy and that it is a state issue and then say her priority is going to be on government spending, crime and securing the border.
