Dec. 11[/i]
Georgia: Will Muschamp and Glenn Schumann will serve as co-defensive coordinators for Georgia during postseason preparations. Outgoing coordinator Dan Lanning will coach for the Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff
Oregon: Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning has been hired as Oregon's head coach, a source tells 247Sports. The news was first reported Friday by Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution but several outlets refuted the report until Saturday afternoon.
Oklahoma: Former Troy defensive coordinator Brandon Hall is joining Brent Venables' staff as an assistant coach at Oklahoma, sources tell Football Scoop. Hall served three seasons as Troy's defensive coordinator and was the interim head coach when Chip Lindsey was fired near the end of the regular season. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree, and was on the Sooners' staff in a variety of roles as a student assistant and quality control coach from 1998 through 2005.
Troy: Jon Sumrall is keeping assistants Al Pogue, Bam Hardmon and Gary Banks on his staff, a source tells 247Sports.
Penn State: Former Miami coach Manny Diaz has been hired as Penn State's defensive coordinator. He replaces Brent Pry, who recently was hired as Virginia Tech's head coach.
Duke: Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko has officially been introduced as head coach at Duke.
Dec. 10[/i]
Virginia Tech: Louisville assistant Stu Holt has been hired as Virginia tech's special teams coordinator and offensive assistant.
Oklahoma: Brent Venables announced his first two assistant coaching hires Friday, naming Jeff Lebby as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Ted Roof as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Venables is retaining Cale Gundy, Bill Bedenbaugh, DeMarco Murray and Joe Jon Finley as well.
Oregon: Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning is expected to be announced Monday as Oregon's head coach, reports Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, but sources tell 247Sports' Matt Prehm the report is inaccurate. Stay tuned.
Duke: Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko is now the leading candidate at Duke, reports Carl Reed of 247Sports. We reported earlier this week Tony Elliott and Elko had emerged as the top targets, and now with Elliott heading to Virginia, Elko rising to the top makes sense.
BYU: BYU coach Kalani Sitake has signed a new "unprecedented" contract to remain at BYU through the 2027 season, the school announced. He was briefly pursued by Oregon following a 10-2 season that included five wins against Pac-12 teams.
Ohio State: Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles signed a three-year contract worth $1.9 million per year at Ohio State. He was reportedly offered a five-year deal worth $1.3 million annually to remain at Oklahoma State.
Virginia: Virginia has hired Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott to lead the program.
Louisiana Tech: Louisiana Tech is adding Stephen F. Austin assistants Marcus Walker and Nathan Young to coach the cornerbacks and offensive line, respectively, and TCU assistant Dan Sharp has been hired as special teams coach, reports Chris Vannini of The Athletic. Running backs coach Brock Hays and outside linebackers coach Anthony Camp will remain at the school.
