Considering that your toughest OOC game was against an FCS team, I totally buy into this.
But considering the source, it's no big surprise.

Cal's schedule is pretty brutal: @Texas @Ore @Stanford @UCLA @UW @Utah. SC and ASU at home.

Prior to Sarkisian's era of historically weak schedules, having top 10 SOS was the norm. I would wager that in the 26 years of Lambo to Willingham we had fewer than 5 schedules that were outside the top 10.
And as alluded to above, it is tough to have a top schedule when you have a good team (because each win hurts your SOS). The 2000 team had the number 3 SOS which is amazing; the top 2 that year were 3-8 Colorado and 5-6 Stanford.

Toughest schedule? We play Boise State, Sac State and Utah State. Where are the BCS teams???

Yet, it wouldn't have been an easy schedule for WSU (See UW vs EWU and UW vs WSU for comparison. Or, just see prior, pathetic WSU results:

Its possible, if not likely, that WSU goes 0-4 against the schedule UW went 4-0 against.
I will give WSU some credit. They did beat Hawaii last century.
