Absolutely. BYU did not play a ranked team the whole season. They struggled to beat a 6-6 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl. It was a travesty.
I was real young, but I remember my dad talking about how the Huskies were screwed probably up until the '91 NC. BYU was the Boise State of the mid 80s I guess, except the idiotic voters gave them credit for beating WAC crap.
I remember watching BYU kill us the next September, but it was a different year obviously.

Though we have ourselves to blame for losing a game to USC that year... man, what could have been.
It also didn't help national perception the following year when we lost to BYU 31 to 3 -- the weak after losing to Oklahoma State at home (the '85 team took a big step back from the '84 team).

I wasn't old enough to remember but I've looked at the historical research.

It really taints our history. We hear this shit about half a NC or a share of the NC. Its BS. The 91 team as per SRS is the second best team of the last 40-50 years. That is the 2nd best team out of over 4000 teams. There is a 50-50 chance that we will never see another team (from any school) that special in our lives.
The 84 team should at least have won half or the share as they say.

WHAT? Dawgs got hammershafted in '84. Everybody knew how good UW was that yer. SOS proved everything. UW was gutted in 85. BYU would have scored 3 points on UW in '84
Florida was on probation in '84 for paying cash to players.
Back then, the SEC was punished for that kind of thing.

joking aside, uw wasn't really better than Oregon when they played. uw had 109 yards offense and 3 first downs. won 17-10 on a blocked punt for a td and ron milus punt return for a td.

Share of the title, my ass! We deserved THE TITLE. I still count it as a Natty (YES I LIKE TO CALL THEM THAT. COME SAIL AWAY WITH ME). Fuck 'em. There was one poll that had us #1 and I roll with that one because it was obvious to anyone who didn't want to kiss the white choir boy funderwear wearin' Mormies' asses that we would've stomped on BYU.
Honestly, I probably didn't give Pete enough credit at Boise from that very turn of events. After that I hated all 'mid-major' programs.
We got fucking hosed. It was a goddamned travesty. Fuck BYU and fuck Sark. FMFYFEFBYU.
