Want to know something even weirder about the 1960 national championship? The Huskies didn’t claim it until 2007 — and that’s when they had a trophy made for it. 

Gosh, now what was going on with the UW Football programs in 2007? They were going 4-9 and putting together the pieces for their famous 0-12 season. If you can't win on the field just make up your own NCs.

You built a statue to a guy who was a racist and had a losing record the last 10 years of his coaching career at UW. He never "won" an NC. Embarrassing program.

It's like saying that a Bread company awarded you the NC and that there was a team that finished with a better record than you that year that was awarded the trophy by everyone else.

When Schroeder made his first set of retroactive championship picks in February 1943, he chose the NIT winner as the national champion for 1938 and 1939; for 1940, he chose USC (which won neither tournament that year)
