I'm really never one to get the government involved in private enterprise, but given that the AD's at publicly funded universities appear to be 100% retarded I'm pretty sure that some regulations need to be put in place to restrict what can be guaranteed in terms of coaching salaries and buyouts. These numbers are ridiculous and none of that money is deserved.

$168M owed to fired FBS head football coaches

Make the buyout the same for poaching a coach and firing a coach. Of course you’ll need collective bargaining with the coaches union to pull that off as standard and required language and they’ll never agree to that.

Congressman from the 509 has a bill that caps coaching salary at 10x the annual tuition rate.

Not a fucking chance it passes but at least an attempt at sanity.

Brian Kelly is set to make $26k per day for the next six years.

and what about Brian Kelly?

Woodward being responsible for about 60% of those contracts/money is pretty funny

Since the top schools seem to like UW coaches, the buyout for the ENTIRE first 5 years for a UW hire should be at least $50-$60 million, for the entire length of the contract.
No UW coach should get a contract longer than 5-6 years. Fans get tired/sick of the coach at most schools after 6 years, if they don't become Saban.
