Sent this email to woodward earlier (and was originally from a discussion i posted here a few weeks before the season started...now with updated numbers)
Dear Mr. Woodward,
This is a comprehensive list of all coaches who had their first 10+ win season in year 5 or after of their coaching...
A few points...
Government as a % of GDP was around 3% throughout the 1800s (it is currently 30+%)...We had recessions and unemployement but there isn't a clear difference between # and severity of panics in the 1800s (pre fed) vs 1900 (with fed).
Why can't we have a truly free market health...
Not true at all. I know the stock market is efficient enough that most people can't beat it. Same with the vegas sports books. Its such an efficient market that until proven otherwise, I'm pretty sure you ain't making any money long term. If you had a positive expected value on sports betting...
nobody here is making money off sports betting. I was hoping to avoid here the dawgman fettish of all the posters being smarter than vegas...guess not.
unless you wanna write out your stats of why 7 points is off, no one is making money here. 7 points is right
Yeah kinda seems like it. I was basing my previous statement on Pinkel (which may have been a bit overboard) based on the fact that he does seem to do well with the talent he has (not great, but clearly is above average in the "coaching effect" stats).
But i guess that is a major flaw in some...
lol don't be a fucking idiot. As always, listen to people who have real skin in the game...VEGAS! ignore the people who's incentive structure is entirely based on always predicting a "break out season"
we are a 7.5 win team this season. If you disagree with that, then PM me and i'll be glad...
Of course it didn't noticably hurt the economy...because min wage at its current level (or even the level of the 70's) is such a minor factor that all the other factors that go into a healthy economy outway the min wage effect. In general min wage has very little effect on the economy (unless...
Meyer is number 26
Harbaugh is 51.
There are some issues with this ranking, and again its not meant as a stand alone, but just another point of reference. This analysis gets a lot of things right, especially at the extremes..but there are some issues. Meyer is prob penalized because the...
looks like a fellow Husky fan wrote that above article...credit to RedmondLonghorn
in a related note, He_Needs_More_Time posted this link a while back in another thread:

Serves as a nother point of reference. Sark is costing us about 1...
Good article on measuring the coaching effect over the last 7 years:
http://www.footballstudyhall.com/2013/8/19/4635732/college-football-apparent-talent-coaching-effects
To sum it up, the guy normalized talent rankings and then compared to wins. then ranked about 130 coaches spanning 7...
So is the $/viewer offer from direct tv still about the same (Pac12 vs B1G)? Pretty stupid for the Pac12 to be arguing for the same amount of absolute $ if their viewership is 50% than the B1G. 50% less viewers means your final offer from directv should be 50% less in absolute dollar terms...
Been following the HHB since the beginning, love the podcasts and still have the hire mora shirts from 2008. Normally don't have much to say, but that study really opened my eyes to how bad Sark is. I didn't say this on dawgman, but the numbers show that he should've been fired after year 3...

i draw a lot of parallels between this and the coaching search....and the "10 years of experience needed" that i always here as well in the job market. I'm willing to bet 90% of professions follow exactly like teaching...experience is largely complete...
Bill Gates has a great talk about teachers. Without him knowing much about teaching (the "x's and o's") he showed that after 3 years, the improvement in teaching skill is 0. You are either a good teacher or a bad teacher by year 3...whatever you are in year 3, you will be in year 20. He used...
