Without Googling but Pup-style, off the top of my head I believe Gooden's rookie year was 1984. I recall that Langston led the AL in strikeout as a rookie that year and Gooden led the NL as a rookie.
Yeah I'm pretty it was 86 that he had the ridiculous year now that I think about it. That might be the earliest card I have if him though.

I just watched Doc and Darrell 30 for 30. Darrell was rookie of the year in 83/ Doc in 84. Doc's monster season was 85. The Mets won the Series in 86 but Doc was already on the cocaine and slipped a bit from his 85 season. Still good though
