Worst Places to Live in Washington Damnit!!!

Unincorporated Kitsap is pretty decent for the most part. I'm just outside of Olalla. Bremerton definitely sucks, but I think that city is going to change a lot over the next 20 years.
Interesting area there. I've given some thought to selling out of Seattle and buying somewhere in that general vicinity. Gig Harbor, etc. I like Vashon but have a problem with being on an island when I don't really have to be. It can be a pain in the ass. Love Orcas but no fucking way.
Agree with your take on Bremerton. Part of my thought process is that in 20 years anywhere near water on Puget Sound will be untouchable. Still some good value to be found in Mason County @dflea . I like Budd, Totten and Eld inlets. Don't know the other inlets as well but suspect there's a lot of good opportunity there.
All the shit talk about Seattle aside, and I really don't care or take it personally, but with all it's flaws it is a stunning city that offers a shit ton and I would like to have reasonable access to it. O-Town / Gig Harbor distance would be about the limit. So figuring out something around the Sound that is an easy trip to the city would be ideal.

The other consideration is the kids. If one of them ever needs to live here to work, it would be nice to maintain a Seattle residence for them to use. It's going to be like San Fran here pretty soon, where if you don't have a legacy real estate asset you're not going to get one unless you are a big money person.
Analysis paralysis.
Bremerton and Port Orchard have the ferry to downtown and West Seattle, but they're so unreliable and if you can't get reliable boat service the drive all the way around is nuts. I used to be a ferry commuter for about 1.5 years and then covid happened and I moved on to a new employer before the fast foot ferry came online. There was a part of the commute by ferry that was actually pretty enjoyable. Having the ferry available to take a tourist day into Seattle is a nice convenience, though.
Vashon would be miserable because of having to rely on the ferry service for basically everything. The terminal at Fauntleroy is hell if you're driving on.

Also, Gig Harbor is okay if you don't mind everything closing by 9 pm and being the freshman team version of Edmonds.

Drove by Connell dozens of times from Portland to Missoula. There’s a prison and a McDonald’s.
Kudos to WADOT for taking down the “do not pick up hitchhikers, they may be escaped prisoners” sign sometime in the last 10 years.
How did Connell make the list seeing as it’s IMO located on the most boring drive in the northwest (WA 395 from Pasco to Ritzville), has a maximum security prison, and smells like onions and despair?

Imagine living west and of the crest. Christ.
Huh?
The rain, guy. Shit’s narsty.
Yeah it sucks. Shoutout to the Olympics rain shadow on the peninsula. Still a lot of grey.
There’s no tolerable weather west of the Cascades. None I tell ya. @creepycoug isn’t going all in on Chelan for no reason. He’ll burn down like Yella and die of lung cancer like Yella, but still.

want do you think of good value sound waterfront / water view in that area?
All my real estate guysms say Port Orchard and Bremerton are the next areas to pop. Both areas mostly suck right now, but you'd be getting in cheap, relatively speaking. Olalla is cool because of the short drive to Gig Harbor and Tacoma.
Some people like Manchester. Great views of Seattle from across the sound, but it's tucked at least 15 minutes away from everything with only a couple of restaurants in the heart of the area.
Don't sleep on Poulsbo, either. Also, it's the closest town to Silverdale which has the most "suburban" shopping in the county.
There are a million little inlets to the west headed out towards Mason County and Hood Canal. If you want land that's the direction to go, but you'll be pretty far from any kind of entertainment outside of small town cafes and restaurants near water. I don't head out that way often. Belfair has a few spots and there's a lot of outdoors stuff to do that way.

We've been here seven years, and still find little little pockets of cool neighborhoods previously unknown. We are in between Silverdale and Bremerton, so we can branch out for restaurant options, from Port Townsend to Gig Harbor, Hamma Hamma to "The Island", 15 minutes to the ferry.
20 years ago, I couldn't have imagined leaving Seattle for Kitsap. With the well-documented deterioration, combined with my accumulation of birthdays, I can't imagine going back.

Let us harken back to '03, a dirty rainy day in Gorst. PLSS was dumb enough to go into that little strip club, right at that big bend in highhway before Kitsap way in Bremerton. As there's nothing else to do in Bremerton, my bro and I chose that over bowling.
This fresh little colored stripper sat down to talk. Wasnt the typical "you want a VIP dance" ploy for cash? She was like "you wanna fuck puppy"?, in so many words with her eyes. Being I had already dumped in the old haybag before I left the house, I was already happy and content, and as you can imagine, super tired from the long drive.
Insert blow and whiskey! Pumpy was soon putting on a poundins to a little black beauty with the energy of Harry Reams. Shoulda seen me Tom. Not bad for a special valentines day. Thats when I got hooked on black women I think. Generally there's some downtime after a long night of making love, Not so fast!

I think it was about 20 years ago, or close to, Bremerton had a bunch of condos built near the ferry, did some other stuff. It is a cool little downtown, but Silverdale gets most of the business in the area. That said there are solid Navy jobs on Kitsap, plus you're a tad closer to the Olympics which are much less used than the Cascades.

I haven't been on Bainbridge in years but I hear the casino just across the Agate Pass has made getting on and off the island miserable. Both Vashon and Bainbridge should probably have more people and the people of Vashon would protest in their 1980's model Volvos if a bridge was ever constructed from Gig Harbor / Purdy / Port Orchard. That and with WSDOT speed, it would take 15 years to build. For true growth to hit Port Orchard / Southworth and Vashon, a direct ferry into downtown Seattle would influence that a lot. Plus there are certain times of day the drive around is a lot faster. One mid afternoon I made it from Purdy to Northgate in an hour.

Oh and the list should include South South Hill, or really Graham. Meridian is the worst.
