It’s this. Marketing activations are driving this in a month of the year that isn’t great for retail sales generally. I’m sure sales aren’t actually being generated, but marketers always just fall back on “it drove awareness even though I missed my numbers.”

Instead of Disney Imagineers being able to shove their virtue-signaling Pride month asshattery down our kids’ throats, We the People shoved their failure down theirs instead. Eat it, Disney. Lightyear crashed and burned, making a paltry $51 million on opening weekend. Revenge is sweet, my friends. Drink the tears of your enemies and enjoy.

I'd argue that it was the Soviet defeat of the Nazi armies in the Battle of Stalingrad. That and the loss of the Battle of Britain (air campaign) by the Luftwaffe. Both weren't the end of the war, but they were the turning point and the end result was now inevitable.

Why does the Battle of Midway or Iwo Jima get no love? East Coast Bias? Most likely.
Well, Fuck that Shit. My dad and all my uncles fought in the Pacific, including Guadalcanal. 3 of 4 came home. 1 is on Final Patrol lost somewhere around the Luzon Strait. Only recently did I learn that my dad's younger brother drove landing craft at Guadalcanal or Iwo Jima, directly into the hailstorm of Japanese machine gun fire, over and over and over again. The Balls on the Boys in the Pacific were as big or bigger than anybody's at Normandy, but Steven Ambrose and Tom Brokaw[/i] poured all their ink into the European battles, as though Japan was just a mosquito.
Fuck both of those Guys, too.
