Why is Sample leaving?

With Glenn graduating, why is everyone so sure that James Sample will leave? Wouldnt you think he'd naturally be competing for that other safety spot? Or does Shamburger have it locked down?

yeah, that is about the only thing that makes sense...he's the size/build of the guys they want on the defense. Who knows. Hopefully he sticks around though. Attrition is ok, but a 4 star safety? Rather keep him around.
 
Not saying kiss his ass to get him to stay, but all you need is one guy going back to his high school, bad mouthing the program, and any pipeline that was developing is dead.
 
He has been at practice with the twos these past few weeks, it seems, and moving forward. He had injury issues this year, so it is not as though he was able to show his best. Perhaps after the bowl, he will have a better feel for where he stands. But they just moved a freshman CB, Beaver, to safety to bolster numbers after earlier moving Feeney and Shaq (for now, at least). So Sample will have to impress in the spring to get PT.
