I lived in DC when Marion Berry was taken down (bitch set me up) for crack. No one was surprised he won re election. As long as the voters are in on the grift, they are just fine with the person in office.

Berry was just like Maxine Waters. Didn't do shit for their constituents, actually made life worst for many of them, but he fed them just enough hate whitey rhetoric to get and keep their vote. Having the "system" (whitey) to blame all your problems on is a very powerful and real thing. People always want to talk about how right-wingers use immigrants as scapegoats to blame people's problems on, hell politicians like Berry made an art form of blaming whitey.
