Look, I doog for Pete as much as anyone, but 90% of the bored seem to think winning this Saturday is a given which makes me wonder if majority of the Halfbrains have turned into Quarterbrains. I will get a lot WTF for this but I can't resist my urge to antangonize halfbrains here when most are behaving like a herd just like the doogs at doogman.
Honestly, given the performance of the 4 pre-season games, no clue how the game will go on Saturday. But in terms of strength and weakness, here is what I see:
Our strength / furd weakness:
1. Coach Pete: this one is clear. Without him, I will bet 90% of the bored would be predicting a loss based on our 4 preseason games.
2. Our defensive lines: Danny and Kikaha, enough said.
3. Our return teams: John Ross and Dante Pettis
4. John Ross by himself
5. Van Winkle's Leg
6. Furd's red zone offense / their kicker (horrendous so far, the No. 1 reason they lost to SarkFS)
7. Furd's run defense
8. Coach ShawFS
Our weakness / furd strength:
1. Our passing game due to our noodle arm QB
2. Our young secondary -- However, the improvement here is obvious. Hopefully they are mature enough after 4 practice games to not be a huge liability in this game.
3. Our erratic punting
4. Furd's passing defense (No.1 in the country statistically)
5. Furd's secondary
Some uncertainties of our team which will likely determine the outcome of the game
* Our offensive line and running game: This has been erratic at best. If we can play up to our potential, then our winning odds increase dramatically. Perhaps a bit more Shaq and Linquist will get our running game going.
* Our linebackers: If Shaq performs like he did in the illinois game (both as a line backer and as a running back), we should win this game easily.
* Our special team coverage: Has been mostly solid, but Stanford will provide a different level of test
* Our dual headed monster quaterbacks: If Miles can keep his slate clean even if he can't pick up blitz well enough, we still stand a chance. If his fluffy ducks get picked off a couple of times, it would be a long day.
* Our defensive game calling: I am sure Pete will be heavily involved in offense game calling so I am less worried there. Kawasaki had been reasonably good at halftime adjustment but hopefully he can do a good job this time from the get go.
Even an ugly win against Standford will no doubt make the quarterbrains here happy. I will be disappointed but not pissed if we lose a hard fought close game that we see improvement in all facets of games. Now the obligatory prediction: Husky wins by a 50+ yard field goal.
