I've heard that too, but it's actually because greedy Americans drive cars and don't offset their carbon footprint.I'm hearing it is because people don't burn enough wood chips.
Remember to always keep your house stocked with enough food and water to last for 2 weeks. Practice a tornado drill at least once a year. Always know where you can take shelter, not only in your home, but you place of work and any other locations you may frequent. Stay away from glass, and do not venture outdoors for any reason. If you spot a tornado while driving, you can try to drive out of its path by taking a 90 degree angle. There is no way to guarantee safety during a tornado. You can only mitigate some of the risk. Rebuilding after the storm can take a long time, so you should stay away from downed power lines until they can be repaired. Remember to pack your patience!
