The Seahawks existence. Helpful, harmful or irrelevant for UW football?
They were around when Dong James was walking along the shores of Montlake. I think they take juice away from UW when they're good, though (the Seahawks were garbage almost all of the time James was at UW). And, quite honestly, the NFL playoffs have been far more entertaining than any UW games I saw this year.

The demise of the structure of NCAA football is going to make it harder for Husky football to compete for locals' dollars and time. If I want to watch paid pros I will watch the NFL where the best of the best play. Husky Stadium as "the greatest setting" will probably be 50% away crowds if the team doesn't start winning big, quick. At the end of the day, though, people will still support a winner.

the Seahawks were insanely popular from 1983-1988 and made the playoffs 4 times

It's funny because James had a run from 77 to 84 and was down when the Seahawks had that run. Then UW was BACK

The Hawks were 2-14 in 1991

Holmgren came as UW was dropping football in the early oughts and got the 05 Super Bowl while UW was heading to owen12

at the time I thought it was cool that Seahawks beat Marino on new year's eve 1983 at the orange bowl in the playoffs, and exactly one year later Huskies beat Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.

Part of the loss of relevancy is bringing a million foreign students that don’t care about football or attachments to the school. That’s a west coast problem in general. A friend of mines daughter had ridiculous grades, SAT’s, etc and didn’t get in. He is fully down with the conspiracy theory that UW discriminates the in staters because they pay less tuition. It’s hard to argue that he is wrong.

In some stories over the years I've mentioned a woman that used to be in my life named Lucy. She was a graduate of MIT. She applied to the UW in 2011 and asked me to write a letter of referral. I told her that probably wasn't a good idea but she insisted. UW turned her down... Twice. At first I wondered if my radioactive reputation in certain circles hurt her, but in time I came to see that I was probably irrelevant in the matter and she was denied because she was an in-stater.

It's 100% true and not a conspiracy. There should be zero state funding given to UW until they start educating the people who actually live here, pay taxes here, and who will most likely continue to live here in the future. Trying to act like we? are Stanford is so fucking dumb.

It was all over the place even 25 years ago. I had two friends, both white males, same basic extracurricular, one got in and one didn’t. The one that got in had a worse GPA and SAT than the one who was rejected.

It's not a conspiracy theory.

I was accepted out of high school in 1999. I would not be in 2026 with all things being equal. I would not have even tried, to be honest, and I was a good student and did well on testing. Probably would've ended up attending Indiana (based on the data @creepycoug shared in his academis smack talk prior to the natty) and would now be enjoying the brave new world of college football rather than being pushed away by it.

There's a good chance Indiana football killed you long ago in that reality
