Yeah the UCLA and USC rivalry always seemed kind of hokey to me in LA. Always seemed kind of like a fun heyhey around the office rivalry. Not one that might get a 49-year-old father in a porking lot brawl like the Apple Cup or Oregon v Washington. I know three guys who did their MBA at Anderson. Undergrad at USC, Stanford and Boston College. All three said that UCLA was a milk toast experience from an athletic fan perspective and that they don't perceive any undying loyalty among the undergrads. It's a good school. Kid goes, gets the degree and moves on is the typical M/O. Compare and contrast with USC, which has an almost cult-like following among those who attended.
