Two-minute warning

So what’s the deal with calling the 2-minute warning the 2-minute timeout? Is 2-minute warning too “triggering?” Does college football just want to be different? Does the NFL actually have 2-minute warning copyrighted?

I think the 'warning' goes back to the days when there was no clock… it was more like 'hey! only 2 minutes left!'. In junior football we had no clock. You'd have to ask a guy holding a timepiece.

This is it, though it also doesn't hurt it raises the chances for more action in the final two minutes and makes it harder to put games away as it gives whoever needs to stop the clock an extra timeout.

I mean, I have no problem with stopping the clock at two minutes. It was long overdue in my book. But to not call it the two-minute warning is weak.

Which is dumb because every year the college game gets more and more like the NFL
