My TBS'ing has shown that Washington has been slowly sliding out of this race for over half a year, after starting in a decent position. Malloe is completely blowing one of the easiest key recruitments we had this year.

That's certainly how it appears. If that holds up throughout the process than it's a major failure on Malloe's part. Poly DT, from the northwest, position of great need, down year at the position elsewhere...you damn sure need to do everything to get him.

All this does is illustrate what a massive loss Marlon was. A kid we had a great shot at, not from Cali, loved us enough to commit, and got snatched away last minute. It's going to sting for awhile.

Position coaches are important in recruiting, but this board has an obsession with placing the blame on them when they don't get a guy. I don't entirely disagree with it, but it is simplistic.

Nobody (myself included) would give Jonathon Smith all the credit for Yankoff and Sirmon, so why does the coach get all the blame?

Some kids might come to a school for a position coach, but mostly it's just one of many factors. Location, winning, academis, head coach, etc.

Malloe's recruiting is something to keep an eye on. Draco was a big get. If it's really a problem, it will be addresses like Pease and Strausser.
