June 2021 supplier puts temporary 20% surcharge

November 2021 surcharge becomes permanent and an additional 15% price hike

That's 35 % for our Biden voters

Biden made the economy boom. It boomed so fast, there's just a little temporary problem. You gals are never happy.
 
In my industry we have seen that all over the place. A major supplier who is a Top 50 corp. told me that they had to put a 25% surcharge on transportation alone. The surcharge is now permanent and the price on the shelf to builders which equals Homeowners which equals you and me is now 35% higher than 3 years ago the largest increase in their history over any 10 year[/b] comparison. In addition all appliances are up over 25% due to supply chain bullshit and that is in the last 2 years. States like CA and WA are tacking on even higher tariffs on transportation and I know for fact in WA and OR they have turned down lumber MFG and Pressure treated sites that suppliers were going to build from scratch to lessen the pain of transportation and storage. They don't want those kind of business in their states so basically they are screwing their own citizens and forcing suppliers to continue to raise prices while still exporting building materials at the expense of the environment.

Rat control of the economy is a disaster.

Doing a home remodel and made a couple other purchases. Bought all the flooring and appliances the day the cash out closed in May even though demo isn’t expected to be done until second week of August. Got wind of supply chain issues and said fuck it. It’s all sitting in the contractors warehouse now.

Same with a vehicle purchase - paid for it in March and took delivery in July. Everything ordered after that had an upcharge/price protection built in.

Our dryer went out in late May and so my wife thought that was a sign from God that we needed a new washer and dryer. I put a call into the appliance repair guy and got a Monday appointment. Went to the appliance store on the weekend and geezus what an eye opener. Out of lots of stock, lots of backorders with months wait and the prices were sky high with no Memorial Day or July 4 sales in sight. Just pay the jacked up price. Fortunately, it was a thermostat fuse issue and was a pretty easy fix. Hope it lasts until the dementia patient and Pete Buttplug gets the supply chain fixed before Pete gets the monkeypox.

I manage the 30 largest Pro Customers (builders, developers) in the GA coastal region (and Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head). Appliances are non-existent mostly due to parts and manufacturing in China. China has not recovered at all. Covid shutdowns increased the price of lumber last year 5X. In 2019 and much of 2020 the price for a 4x8 sheet of OSB was $13.00. Last year the average price was $56. Lumber mills are working again so things have come back down but my new home builders were spending on average $35K more for a 2000 sq ft home just in lumber than they were the year before. Then the market got hit with transportation and fuel increases and all sorts of problems associated with logistics that were generated by this administration and that has caused everything to go up an average of 15% and that is before it was marked up on the retail side.

People don't think about the decisions this administration makes and how it kills the budget of the average American. The pipeline shut down alone will cost Americans billions upon billions just in extra transportation costs and then you throw in the avoidable fuel price explosion and you can see how it is a double and triple killer for everyone who is a consumer.

Reiner hit it out of the park with The Princess Bride, partially by letting the cast do the hard work. He is worth $200 million and has the carbon footprint of a couple thousand Americans. And yet he hates this country and capitalism. He will tell you he is under taxed, but hey, no additional checks to the government unless forced at gun point (the dazzler approach).
