@Goduckies loves Hertz and buys the shitty insurance, clearlyHertz is trash. Had one shit experience with them, never again.
That concept works with hookers, too. When I rent anything I take pictures of the entire vehicle before driving away. It has saved me before.
I am over a 10 million mile flier and have rented cars 1000's of times over the years. I have fought rental car companies numerous times and have never won. They just ding your credit immediately. Rented one from Hertz in Memphis. A tornado hit the airport so I decided to drive back to Atlanta with the car rather than wait however long it was to get my flight out. Spoke to the idiot at the counter and she said go for it, no problem. They charged my credit card $1100 for dropping off in Atlanta. I took it all the way to the top and they all told me to pound sand. My company just ended up paying.

Credit card has saved my ass twice.“My credit card covers rental insurance”
“No it doesn’t buy our shitty one instead”
“Oh wow what’s the diff?”
“Nothing ours doesn’t actually work either!”
Yeah actually these credit card perks tend to work pretty well. Then again, I think they only work because almost no one uses them. If more people did, they'd drop them. See: airport lounge guest privileges recently.Credit card has saved my ass twice.“My credit card covers rental insurance”

In Kauai, I had a flat, possibly from hitting a pot hole. I called Budget or whoever it was and told them to send someone out. They tried telling to change it, I told them to fuck off because I couldn’t find the jack. They sent a guy, he changed the tire and we exchanged the truck that night. Got a bill for around $900 for the tire. Contacted my insurance first who said it was a road hazard and not covered but my credit card company would take care of it. Less than 24 hours after calling Chase, they reimbursed me the full amount.
The other time was even better and completely a brain dead moment on me causing the damage. Had a rental in Texas for work. First time putting gas in, I see a label on the tank saying the car takes some weird ethanol blend or some shit and that the gas cap and place where you stick the hose are yellow. I look at the pump and see a yellow handle and hose so I fill it up. Only after driving off and the car sputtering to a stop, did I realize I probably put diesel in the car because I was used to green handles for diesel back in Washington. I didn’t tell the company that right away; they thought it was a them issue so they brought out a Jeep Wrangler that was probably 3 car types better in their system. Got a call a day or 2 later telling me was in diesel in a gas tank. Called the work credit card company and never saw a bill.
