No, I trust that the FBI did wiretape King's phones and bug his hotel rooms. They didn't create these tapes out of nothing. King did what he was accused of doing. If you're okay with King banging cocktail waitresses two at time, then it's no big deal but who King really was in his personal life was definitely whitewashed from the public view. Doesn't overshawdow what he did in his civil rights work but it's defintely an aspect of King's life that's not discussed. Same goes for his plagarism of his doctoral thesis.

We've pretty much reduced Thomas Jefferson to a slave holder who banged one of his slaves and had a kid, in the way we now teach about him. If we treated King in the same manner he wouldn't fare very well.
