The Atlantic: Hitler used tariffs to "liberate" Germany

I thought Hitler got elected because the economy in Germany was so horrible and then he rebuilt the army and the economy and invaded a bunch of countries
Maybe I have him confused with a different Hitler

Ghengis Khan was an original free trader. And globalist.

The Weimar Republic was so filled with corruption and social debauchery that Germans chose Hitler to get out of a depression.

Hitler ordered 145% tariffs on Chinese goods, fooling the Germans into thinking China was paying, but it was a tax on the middle class.
