Tennessee to add 10 percent 'talent fee' to ticket prices to raise money to give to players

The dead weight people in the AD, including the assistant AD's/upper management, don't want to take pay cuts or get laid off, is all this is.
I noticed that the Deputy AD we got from one of the FCS California schools was possibly already shown the door, because it looks like he took a lateral move to Seattle U.

Same as many industries and certainly anything in gubment in this country. TITTT.
 
Passing the buck to fans to pay players is ridiculous. Fans pay for tickets to go to the game, concessions, parking, etc and for the cable/streaming fees which go back to the school to the pay the players the way it is in every sport. Instead band together to create some kind of setup where there's some kind of salary cap and the same 6.5 schools can't overpay players and artificially inflate costs.

Agreed and cutting some bloat could save around $1 million and would help not generate the amount that a 10% add on would.
Some crude maff would say there are 9,000 Tyee members and a 10% fee would be about $300 / $400 per member. 9,000 * 300 = $2.7 million in extra cash.
 
The cost of paying players and paying all these lawsuits is going to hit everyone and severely damage the sport. Fans will pay more, departments will cut staff, perks will have to be cut - players better be ready for the insanely fancy locker rooms to start fading away. If you are a non-revenue generating sport? get ready to start selling fundraisers again, because the sugar daddy of football is not paying your rent any more.
At this rate, it seems like the only people that won't be giving up their money is going to be the coaches.
 
Which is unfortunate because the market correction which needs to happen is coaching salaries.

Coaching salaries are probably to only get worse as the scarcity of good coaches increases with the exodus to the NFL due to recruiting and NIL rules.

Motherfucking this. This whole system is fucking idiotic. If we're gonna be NFL lite then just make it NFL lite already. Cleary the universities still want to be in the college football bidness even if it's with professional athletes.

Universities want it because it keeps alumni engaged and donations / college applications flowing with the visibility.
What is troubling is Reggie Bush's attempted money grab. Isn't there there some sort of time limitation on trying to claw back compensation from something nearly 20 years ago? It's so ridiculous, particularly for a guy who parlayed his top level coaching (Pete Carroll had come from the NFL) and free USC tuition into being the #2 pick in the NFL draft.
