40k+ people die in car crashes every year with many attributable to DUI. Not sure this is your best example of police having mixed up priorities, but you are a moron so that's not a surprise.

I think breathalyzers in cars are a legit idea. Realistically though I don't think we're too far away from being like fuck I'm wasted and then just hop in your own back seat and let the car drive for you
