Some states are a bit more interested in the Constitution than others...
South Carolina has a new bill in its legislature for consideration that is attracting some attention. The bill requires all teachers of grades 1-12 to spend three weeks each year teaching the 2nd Amendment to students. Three legislator co-authored the bill that is already raising eyebrows.
The legislation was proposed last month and requires that the instruction is in-line with the current understanding of the amendment by the National Rifle Association. The bill requires all South Carolina public schools to “provide instruction in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution for at least three consecutive weeks during one grading period in each academic year.” Moreover, “the State Superintendent of Education shall adopt a curriculum developed or recommended by the National Rifle Association or its successor organization.”
