I RESPECT Aretha ... I've got nothing against her ... and her top end songs are ELITE

That being

"What a Wonderful World" is as close to of a perfect song as you can get

"Twistin' the Night Away" isn't far behind

And then you throw in a song that is as different as the "Chain Gang" and is also a massive classic

There are obviously others ...

And then when you look at movies, you have Animal House with "Twistin' the Night Away" vs The Blues Brother and "RESPECT" ... Animal House wins every day ... and I LOVE The Blues Brothers

FUCK THESE ARE BRUTALITY.

I'm going with Sam Cooke because I fucked over Smokey in the other thread. But Aretha is fucking iconic. Jesus.

This voting is sooooooo wrong

It's the same dilemma we faced with country- i.e., the choices are painful. I don't think Sam Cooke should blow out Aretha or vice versa. I agree that Sam Cooke in Animal House is some of the most timeless soundtrack music ever used on film. But Aretha's greatness in the later 60s is truly outstanding. She's one of the greatest female vocalists of all time, rather easily.
