Fundamentally it's very clear that you and I will never see eye to eye on most things … but I really disagree with your assertionDannen sounded questionable from his introductory press conference. He sounded like a dipshit to be honest. Oh really dude your "style" is to delegate to capable people? Fucking mind blowing stuff there bud.Let’s roll up the sleeves and untie the gloves a bit …
Softy speaks on what information that he is fed … his sources come from within the existing AD and boosters
Cauce is in her upper 60s … the idea that she may retire and leave UW at some point is fairly obvious … her track record though suggests that she’s not walking away until she’s satisfied with where things are and she strikes me as a lifer more than a time to ride off into the sunset of retirement
Cauce took FULL ownership for the BIG10 move and knows that that move requires UW to raise its game to match its new surroundings … she hired Dannen to navigate the change required
Every interview I heard from Dannen hit all the marks I wanted to hear about what was REQUIRED as we transitioned …
What I do take away from Softy’s spewing is that Dannen encountered some significant obstacles and resistance to the change that he was bringing … change is hard and part of the process is identifying those that are on board and those stuck in what has been done and will be obstacles going forward … it is CLEAR that there’s a lot of obstacles that remain in key places
Dannen chose the path of least resistance and left for Nebraska … for that he deserves a rusty cheese grater … the key takeaway for me though is that whatever obstacles that remain are such that he didn’t want to mess with it
So all eyes are on Cauce and why I’m so intrigued by what is occurring … the department desperately needs a change agent leading it that challenges and breaks some of our historical norms and forces growth and evolving of our mindsets … will she continue with that with this hire or will she relent and satisfy the dissenting voices and hire somebody that is closer to our historical ways?
Between a trip to the National Championship in football and a flexing of their power to oust Dannen … the old guard must be feeling confident in their view that UW doesn’t need to change and adapt
IF that group wins out then I would bet on a very rocky transition into the Big10 and Fisch leaving relatively early in his tenure
Literally his one useful quote was "I need to help Kalen win," which he did in the form of letting him completely and dishonestly play the boosters en route to Bama.
UW with whatever problem people think they have (it appears to just be having to pay more on the stadium now, and supporting non revenue sports which let's be honest, cut the baseball team and the beach volleyball team anyways), they weren't as impressed with him in the following months when his tenure actually got going.

I see this from fans from time to time with pretty much no smoke or evidence beyond sonics made up stories. It's pure doogcraft imo.
I don't give 2 shits about intro kick ass pressers … they are all pomp and circumstances
Here's what I found about Dannen to be important:
- He talked often about prioritizing NIL and how the landscape for college sports was changing - this is spot on
- He had a sense for pushing the boundaries of what has historically been viewed as good enough and was open to pushing the envelope (see comments he made about trying to strengthen the Adidas relationship to be the flagship school to compete against Oregon - whether that is the right path going forward is debatable)
- He was an outsider to UW norms which again I view as a positive in that it brings a fresh perspective and is particularly critical from my viewpoint in a time period where UW Athletics is about to undergo significant change and needing to up their game at all levels
- While it can be debated how much blame he owns for DeBoer, I would say that he deserved credit for getting the obvious hire done in Jedd Fisch and in how he prioritized elements in that hire that will be critical for a CFB coach moving forward
As such, I'm very interested in seeing who the hire is. I hope that it's not an internal hire.
And for the record, if you think all UW needs to do going forward is just support non-revenue sports more, you are fully not grasping how much the game is different when you're directly competing with the Big10 and SEC schools on an every single day basis. UW needs to update its approach on recruiting/developing its players internally versus its usage of the portal. UW needs to actively increase its brand awareness versus just relying on the association with the Big10 to drive that. UW needs to re-double down on its West Coast relationships as one of only 4 programs on the West Coast playing in a league that matters. UW needs to have a strategy to increase its ability to recruit a wider net outside of its traditional areas … it also needs to be aware of how the conference changes may impact their footprint in places like Arizona and Utah. There needs to be a targeted plan on how to address the competitive gap in terms of revenues versus Big10 peers over the next 5-6 years. There needs to be a continued evolution away from the mindset that persisted during Jen's tenure of prioritizing other things above competing and winning. This is just scratching the surface.
