The Doogersons just bought a vacation home down in Arizona. Wanting to keep some cash on hand for rainy days that are no doubt ahead, we took out a loan. We were going to put a substantial amount down, though. We're not dumbasses. We have mid 850s credit.

OK, so that's the backdrop.

Find a good mortgage broker down there...have some discussions about what we're trying to do. He explains in great detail what was coming and - pretty much what is described in the article. So get this...banks were already pricing this shit in. I got a lower rate, at a low cost, by putting LESS down due to the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Policies. He lamented it would be even lower if I had 100 points less on my credit score.

The banks petitioned for these rate sheet changes to not occur because it drives them to be required to take on significant risks - and the only way to counter that risk is to charge hard working, successful folks like the Doogersons.

This is such fucking bullshit...

The result of these policies are easy to predict - just give it a few years.
