5. Washington
Anyone ready for another purple-clad Playoff crasher? The Huskies could have a chance. In the final analysis, Kalen DeBoer was the best first-year coach not named Sonny Dykes. He now has the chance for a huge second season. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who finished in the top 10 in the Heisman Trophy voting, is coming back, as are most of his prime receiving targets. The Huskies have done some work in the transfer portal that should bolster the defense, particularly Oklahoma State defensive back Jabbar Muhammad. In terms of the schedule, there will be a trip to USC, but Oregon must come to Seattle. We’ll see whether Michigan State has recovered sufficiently to provide a test in East Lansing early.[/b]

Love the pub ... #5?

Guess i'll have to work on my recent PTSD ... maybe if this was a continuation of the early 90's or circa Vea/Petersen ... I have a hard time seeing Washington ranked higher than Ohio State and Alabama ... but fuck yeah.

Wilner has them at #5 as well. In the way too early before spring variety but if they can replicate this season, and beat a shitty ASU team, then #5 is very feasible.

The last two years we won the offseason Natty we completely face planted.

2019: Washington 2.0 led by Eason (We lose to Cal in a 6 hour monsoon and plummet to the Vegas Bowl as Pete gives up.)

2021: Defending North Champs w/ Lake ready to take Petersen's guys to the next level (We lose to Montana and Coug, long live St. Ruperake)

I'm not liking this hype.

Time to embrace it and believe that DeBoner completes his work to everyone’s satisfaction with an indestructible Penix.

I thought 2018 was their highest pre-season rank? Face planted that year by losing to an above average Auburn team in the opener and to the Cal menace. Shit, if they win those games, they still just go to the Rose Bowl and lose to Ohio State.

Just get to at least #3 in the final CFP so we* can play in the Rose.

THIS. Nothing else matters.

...if we get 2-3 seed, do we get Rose? So if we get 1 seed, we dont?

The #1 seed gets to pick the bowl site so the Rose Bowl is almost guaranteed to be the #2 vs #3 semifinal because the #1 seed will always be a SEC team. If we get the #1 seed we'll play in the Rose Bowl, if we get the #2 or #3 seed we'll be in the Rose Bowl unless another Pac12 team gets the #1 seed (LOL).

It's the Rose and Sugar next year. If we get the 1 seed we get the Rose.

But I am assuming some SEC team or tOSU/Michigan will get the 1 seed and take the Sugar since it is closer. Which sends the #4 team to the Sugar as their opponent. (I mean Georgia's schedule is 11 cupcakes, Tennessee and the SEC champ game. It will be a shock if they are not 13-0 and the #1 seed, and if they lose in the SEC Champ game the winner of that will be the #1)

That forces #2 vs #3 in the Rose. So just get to #3.

I'm not very high on Michigan. Coach is flirting with other jobs and they do t overwhelm you with talent like Ohio State. Buckeye is probably back to winning that conference next year and Michigan loses 3 games.

Penn State if Allar is good probably wins that conference. Their RB is ridiculous.
