We have a family friend who works for the Falcons so I asked him about the NFL. I didn't write his comments down so excuse any memory errors.
The average age of a team owner is like 72 years old. They are obviously all billionaires with multiple businesses. These teams are layered with much younger leadership that is convinced that capturing the younger viewer is critical to their future success and that the older crowd is money past spent so they are not the focus. They changed how they marketed the sport 8 years ago and it has paid huge dividends. I think viewership this year during the regular season was a record high or close to it although the playoff viewership is down from previous years.
The league office is in charge of marketing, the Superbowl, halftime show, etc. and it is wall to wall liberal youth with zero perspective or concern for any feelings other than the woke crowd. They are the ones pushing messaging to the players and on NFL gear. The franchises have no real say in what is marketed hence the endzone and uniform messaging. They even get a guaranteed amount of time on electronic billboards inside and outside the stadium. he said some owners were not too thrilled with the halftime liberal gay fest we are about to see in the Superbowl but they literally have little to zero say and you can't argue with the success they have seen over the past 8 years..
One last note, I was surprised to learn how little the head office pays attention to the franchisee. You would think that will all those billionaires and their egos this would not be the case. Money is everything and if you are a billionaire and your investment is growing by billions, what if anything would be a problem with the way things are run?
