Seattle mayor Bruce Harrell pushes for city-owned grocery stores

LOL good luck with that Bruce. Grocery margins are fucking thin and always have been. An empty shelved store that has as much walking out the door in pockets as they have being purchased at registers will be tons of fun. But this time we’ll do it right!!!

I feel for the decent, hard workin' people in "food deserts."
This reeks of the "create a problem" (lack of police, lack of consequences for theft) and the gubment swooping in to "solve" it.

Eat shit, Bruce.
get your DA to prosecute petty theft and public drug use. Sweep the tents away. Put police on the beat.

It’s either that Or more of these stores are going away.
You have to be stupid not to understand this.

I'm old enough to remember Communist liquor stores in Washington.
You know, like Idaho and Alabama have to this very day.

lol I remember those liquor stores…never open on Sunday and they closed at like 6

So nice to just be able to grab it at Albertson's or Traitor Joe

The Oregon OLCC doesn't own the liquor stores, just regulates them. They are now allowed to be open on Sunday and open until 8 PM. Other than that it is just like a government owned grocery store that loses money.
