Seahawks hiring 49ers tight ends coach Brian Fleury as offensive coordinator

I trust McDonald but this one scares me. Some of the calls Kubiak made to set up a play, 3 drives later, was genius. He saw things at a different level and I wish him luck in Vegas. I think it’s a little overly optimistic to say I’m bringing this new guy in who’s never called plays and he’s going to be our guy. On the flip side, Mike believes in the process and his system so maybe it’s plug and play… time will tell.

Looks like he was the sergeant at arms on Sons of Anarchy.

George Kittle had a lot of good things to say about Fleury. It's possible that Kubiak recommended him to McDonald. Fleury will develop the TEs and get them more involved in the game. It'll be interesting to see how much Barner and Arroyo develop next season.

Based and what SF runs, and if he learned anything from Shanahan, I think it's probably a good hire for the running game and tight end development. I wouldn't be surprised if Barner is Pro Bowl caliber next season.

I just realized I know more about what's going on with the Seahawks than the Huskies.

Cue Haie telling me it's ready to find UW info and stay up on things for anyone who wants to try. I agree with him and that's what says a lot about CFB these days.

I’d rather stay up with a winner. Hopefully we don’t forget that DSD was the first one yelling loud about the Hawks. If only I’d realized what Kalsha was then. Damn it.

Fleury must be a real up-and-comer to make the leap from TE coach to OC at this level.

This is actually a case where I TRUST THE COACHES
TE coach is where some teams stash a second QB coach. McVay was a TE coach before becoming an OC. Same with Ben Johnson. UW did the same with Sheridan when DeBoer was the coach.

I have no idea if Fleury is good, but Shanahan coaches know how to run the ball which is a priority for McDonald. Add in the connection he probably has with Darnold from SF and it makes some sense.

It’s also interesting that Fleury has a pretty significant background coaching on the other side of the ball, which may have sounded good to MacDonald.

Who knows? I didn’t think Kubiak was gonna be a world-beater when he was hired and he did OK.

We agree that that says a lot about how gay the Kirkland StarHawks fans are these days, jerking it to their best player that played at fucking South Carolina.
