Question for the bored

Going into the 2025 season, if someone asked, "how about an 8-4 regular season record and the best UW recruiting class in at least 7 years" would you have taken it?
(this means excluding taking issue with Fisch's offenses against above average defenses in the 4 losses sine you wouldn't have known about them)

Yes, but I would do so begrudgingly. Likely I would've required winning the bowl, as well.
Clearly he lost to a vastly inferior team. And, yes, it was only one this year on top of the two he lost to last year.
I do wish the fuckstick would give up play calling but I don't think it will happen.

I voted 8-5 in my preseason poll, so yes, I would've taken 8-4 with a strong recruiting class.

OL did better than I expected, young WRs stepped up, run defense was much better, and LB play was improved over 2024.

I said in the record prediction thread:
I have regular season at 8-4. I want to believe we can get to 9-2 going in to Oregon, but I think we take a loss we shouldn't due to the opponent bye week issue.
The team feels 2 wins better and schedule should be easier (less total miles traveled), two toughest games at home instead of road, should all flip the overall win probabilities in our favor on the whole. Plus Judd improved significantly from Year 1 to 2 at Zona. But can't really feel good until Judd wins a B1G road game or he can coach in a non-retarded fashion when trying to beat Cuog.

That was a prediction thread, not an expectations thread, so I guess no.

no, schedule called for 9 wins and a bowl game win. You can win and recruit well, at least that’s what top teams do each year.

I don’t deal in hypotheticals, but I would have taken 12-0 and #30 ranked class since recruiting emphasis is only for shitty coaches.

No. schedule was there for a breakout surprise year. None of these HS players helped us this year. No one can predict how they will help us in the future. Need to win NOW. Actually, fucking Saturday would have helped

Vegas I think had UW at 7.5 wins, but then UCLA and Wisconsin vastly underachieved. UW was better than a top 40 Illinois team.

He seems to be a very good recruiter. If he keeps getting good recruits, UW should replace Penn State from the top tier. Maybe the Pac 3 + Michigan and OSU become the top tier teams now for the next handful of years.
(I don't know if Cignetti can keep IU up so high with so many 3 *s.)
Kirk Ferentz turned 70 in August…his replacement will probably be less successful.
I think IU and UI probably start to stumble soon.

Year #3 will prove his worth.

He needs to find a way to calm Demond down for the big games. Maybe hire Demond a mind coach like Russell Wilson had…

To me it's the record I predicted. One of my problems is the way it went down. The schedule was easier than I thought and I figured even if we lost there was going to be an exciting offense with Demond. Instead the pieced together defense was far and away the strength of the team and that is contingent a lot on playing shitty QBs/offenses, a DC who could leave, and not any star players to build around.
Judd and the program if they want to make a move in 2026 need to be better in the portal. Not being able to identify they would have no pass rush going into last year and finding a way to get some guys in who could was a 2-3-loss difference.

I picked 5-7 so he did great. Really outstanding
I'm picking 3-9 next year so he does even better

It was the Wisconsin loss that hurt the most (Demond throwing an INT in the end zone and also fumbling deep in his own territory). That he threw an INT in the end zone and in double coverage showed he hadn't fully absorbed the lessons he should have learned in the Wisconsin game.
Not having #2 WR RS-Soph Rashid Williams hurt the offense too and thankfully UW will have a deeper WR corp in 2026.
I suspect the staff thought that Isaiah Ward and Deuce Davis would be healthy and contribute more to the pass rush. It didn't work out that way and the pass rush really suffered. A stud DE should be the #1 priority.

The defense was good enough to beat pretty much anyone if visor genius Jedd’s NFL offense could have kept pace.
Again, it’s not hard to identify the issue here.

Would i have taken 8-4 with Jedd? I guess?
Yeah for over achieving mediocre expectations.
UW probably wouldn't have fired him even if he went 3-9 so I guess there's that.
