Was just driving back from my Saturday morning grocery shopping, in the pouring rain. Stars Fell on Alabama by Billie Holiday came on. It took me right back to those rainy nights in the fall and winter of 1993 at my Front Street apartment in Issaquah. Good times.

Black Jazz is great. There are some types that are awful. The smooth jazz from the 80s makes me violent.

Did you go to Fred Myers?

Don’t be a jazz rayciss.

Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, Bill Evans and Chick Corea are all legends.

I remember my no rain phase.

Then UW won a Natty and I though the PNW looked cool.

The commercial smooth jazz of the 80s? Christ

I was driving home yesterday listening to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and was reminded of the time Tower Records went out of business. I got about $2k MSRP of value, almost the entire Blue Note catalogue plus a few others, for about $100. The rock and pop stuff had been picked over already, but the jazz section was THICC. I needed a giant box just to haul it all out to my car. Over 100 CDs total.

Now I don’t even have a CD player in my house.

Only an ignorant NFL fan would consider that jazz.

I think most of them were stolen. The rest are in a basement somewhere? Probably my mom’s.

I’ve lost or had stolen probably 500 CD’s. Don’t have a single one anymore. I have no clue where any of them are.

I’ve moved the boxes several times. They’re buried in a basement shelf somewhere now.

Jazz is literally in the name.

Several legit jazz musicians put out smooth jazz albums to profit off of basic white people in the 80s.
